How to use Siri with ChatGPT on iPhone
Starting with iOS 18.2 and later, Siri includes the long-awaited ChatGPT integration. This upgrade enables Siri to handle more complex questions by utilizing OpenAI’s chatbot instead of relying on traditional web searches.

First up, the ChatGPT integration with Siri relies on Apple Intelligence, which has specific hardware requirements. To access this feature, you must have one of the following devices:
- iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max
- Any iPhone 16 and later
1. Make sure your device is upgraded
To use ChatGPT with Siri, your device must be running iOS 18.2 or later. First, ensure your iPhone is updated.
Simply go to Settings > General > Software Update, then tap the blue Update Now button to install the latest version.

2. Set up ChatGPT
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Tap ChatGPT in the Extensions section.
- Tap Set Up… next to ‘Use ChatGPT’.

5. A page of information about ChatGPT will appear. Read the details, then click Next.
6. Next, you’ll see a page about Privacy and ChatGPT. Read the information carefully. If you’re satisfied, click theEnable ChatGPT button.
7. If you already have a ChatGPT account: Click Use ChatGPT with an Account and sign in.
8. Once ChatGPT is enabled you can sign in with your ChatGPT login details at any time from the ChatGPT settings.
9. Signing in allows ChatGPT to keep a record of all of your interactions.

Additional information you need to know about ChatGPT’s daily limit and related settings.
Daily Limit:
- Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > ChatGPT.
- You’ll see your daily limit displayed.
- If it says Under limit, you have access to ChatGPT’s advanced features.
- Once you hit the daily limit, you’ll be switched to the basic version of ChatGPT for up to 24 hours.
ChatGPT Plus:
- If you want to always access the best features of ChatGPT and avoid being downgraded to the basic version, you can upgrade to ChatGPT Plus.
- ChatGPT Plus costs $20 per month.
- You can upgrade directly from the Settings page.
Confirm ChatGPT Requests:
- The Confirm ChatGPT Requests option controls whether Siri asks for confirmation before sending your request to OpenAI’s ChatGPT servers.
- If you turn this setting off, Siri will send the request immediately to ChatGPT.

Here’s how to use Siri with ChatGPT
- Activate Siri: Use the “Hey Siri” voice command or hold the sleep/wake button.

5. Optionally Save the Response: Tap the copy icon to save the information if you’re not logged in to ChatGPT.
- If you’re logged in to ChatGPT, you can view a history of your requests in the ChatGPT app.

Note: ChatGPT currently doesn’t speak its responses, but this feature may be available in a future iOS update.
